Terms of Service

Last updated: June 7, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and rtrn LLC ("rtrn," "we," "us," or "our"), an Indiana limited liability company, and govern your use of the rtrn web application and website at rtrnapp.com (the "Service").

Please read Section 14 (Dispute Resolution; Binding Arbitration and Class Action Waiver) carefully. It affects your legal rights, including how disputes are resolved and your ability to bring claims in court or on a class basis.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use rtrn. The Service is offered only to users in the United States. By using rtrn, you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate.

2. The Service

rtrn is a Catholic Scripture journaling tool. It offers daily readings, guided Lectio Divina prompts, a private journal, community groups, and growth reports, to help you grow in your faith.

rtrn is a devotional aid only. It is not a substitute for the Sacraments, the Magisterium, the guidance of a priest or spiritual director, or professional medical, psychological, or legal advice. rtrn is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any diocese, parish, or the Catholic Church as an institution unless expressly stated.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at hello@rtrnapp.com of any unauthorized use. You agree to provide accurate account information and to keep it current.

4. Plans, Free Trials, and Billing

Plans. rtrn offers a free Seeker plan and a paid Disciple plan. The Disciple plan is $8.99 per month or $59.99 per year, in U.S. dollars, as selected by you. The Seeker plan does not require a payment method.

Free trial. The Disciple plan begins with a 7-day free trial. A valid payment method is required to start the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription automatically converts to a paid Disciple subscription and your payment method is charged at the rate you selected.

Automatic renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically - monthly or annually, matching your selection - until you cancel. You may cancel at any time from your Account page. When you cancel, your paid access continues through the end of the current billing period, after which your account reverts to the free Seeker plan. Your entries remain accessible on Seeker, subject to the plan's limits.

Billing through Stripe. All payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method for the applicable fees, including on each renewal, until you cancel.

Price changes. We may change subscription prices. We will give you advance notice of any price change, and it will take effect on your next billing period after the notice.

Refund policy. All sales are final. We do not issue refunds for charges that have already processed, including renewals, partial periods, or unused time. Canceling stops only future renewals.

As a limited courtesy, if you select an annual plan in error, contact us at hello@rtrnapp.com within 30 days of the charge, and rtrn may, at its sole and absolute discretion, issue a refund of that annual charge. This is a discretionary courtesy only - it is not a right, a guarantee, or a general refund policy, and granting it in one case does not obligate us to do so in any other.

5. Your Content

You own your content. Your journal entries, reflections, prayers, and other content you create ("Your Content") belong to you.

License to operate the Service. You grant rtrn a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service to you - for example, to save your entries and show them back to you, to generate reports you request, and to deliver content to groups you choose to share with. This license exists only to run the Service and ends when you delete the relevant content or your account, except for residual copies in backups as described in our Privacy Notice and content others have already received through group sharing.

Group sharing. When you share an entry with a group, you grant the members of that group permission to view what you shared, within the Service. You decide what to share; your journal is otherwise private.

Your responsibility. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to post it.

6. AI Growth Reports

Growth Reports are an opt-in feature that uses artificial intelligence, provided by Anthropic, to analyze certain of Your Content and surface themes and patterns over time. By enabling Growth Reports, you authorize rtrn to send the specific content described in our Privacy Notice (your Scripture passage and your Reflect, Act, and Give Thanks responses - never your Pray responses), in de-identified form, to Anthropic for processing. You can disable this feature at any time.

AI-generated output is informational and reflective only. It may be incomplete or inaccurate, and it is not spiritual direction, counseling, or professional advice. Use your own judgment and seek a priest, spiritual director, or qualified professional where appropriate.

7. Community and Groups

Community features must be used charitably and in good faith. You are responsible for what you post and share in groups. Group leaders are responsible for managing their groups appropriately. Before deleting your account, if you lead or manage any group, you must hand it off or close it.

We may review, moderate, or remove content or groups, and may limit or remove access to community features, to enforce these Terms or protect users.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • violate any law or the rights of others;
  • harass, threaten, defame, or abuse anyone;
  • post content that is unlawful, hateful, obscene, or that misrepresents the Catholic faith in bad faith to deceive or harm others;
  • attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that are not yours;
  • interfere with, disrupt, probe, or attempt to circumvent the security or integrity of the Service;
  • scrape, copy, or harvest data from the Service except as expressly permitted; or
  • use the Service to build a competing product.

We may, at our sole discretion, suspend or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines, and may delete the associated content and account without refund. rtrn retains the sole and exclusive right to make these determinations.

9. Account Deletion and Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your Account page. Deletion removes Your Content from our live systems and cancels any active subscription, as described in our Privacy Notice. Deletion does not entitle you to a refund of amounts already charged.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) will survive.

10. Third-Party Services and Content

The Service relies on third-party providers, including Supabase, Stripe, Lovable, and Anthropic, and displays daily readings and Scripture text obtained from third-party sources. That third-party content is owned by its respective rights holders and is provided subject to their terms. Your use of third-party services may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and rtrn is not responsible for them.

11. Intellectual Property

The rtrn name, logo, application, design, guided prompts, and all related materials (excluding Your Content and third-party content) are owned by rtrn LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended devotional purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from the Service except as expressly permitted.

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE. rtrn IS A DEVOTIONAL AID AND IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR THE SACRAMENTS, PASTORAL CARE, OR PROFESSIONAL ADVICE.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, rtrn LLC AND ITS OWNERS, MEMBERS, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, rtrn'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID rtrn IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

14. Dispute Resolution; Binding Arbitration and Class Action Waiver

Please read this Section carefully. It affects your legal rights.

Agreement to arbitrate. You and rtrn agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, rather than in court, except as stated below. The Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this Section.

Arbitration procedure. The arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules then in effect. The arbitration will take place in Allen County, Indiana, or by remote/video means, or as otherwise agreed. The arbitrator's decision is final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Class action waiver. You and rtrn agree that each may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims or preside over any form of class or representative proceeding.

Small claims exception. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies and remains in that court.

Right to opt out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing hello@rtrnapp.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, stating your name and intent to opt out. If you opt out, the arbitration and class-waiver provisions will not apply to you, and disputes will be resolved in the courts identified in Section 15. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.

Jury and court waiver. Except for the small claims exception and any matters that cannot be arbitrated under applicable law, you and rtrn waive any right to a jury trial and to litigate disputes in court.

15. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. For any dispute not subject to arbitration (or if the arbitration agreement is found unenforceable), you and rtrn submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Allen County, Indiana.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you within the Service or by email. Your continued use of rtrn after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a court or arbitrator of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be severed or limited to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. This includes the arbitration provisions in Section 14: if the class action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim will proceed in court, but the remainder of Section 14 will continue to apply to all other claims.

18. General

These Terms, together with the Privacy Notice, are the entire agreement between you and rtrn regarding the Service. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
